News: FDA to speed up the access to COVID-19 treatments

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is doing whatever it can to speed up the access to potential COVID-19 treatments as early as possible, considering a year's time that the vaccine is going to take to get to the market. In a press conference held alongside the FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn, President Donald Trump discussed the antiviral treatments that can be a potential COVID-19 cure.

Chloroquine can be of the treatment, which already has the FDA approval as a malaria treatment more than 50 years ago, and Gilead’s experimental antiviral remdesivir, which is in clinical trials in the US and China and which has been used in about 250 patients in the US on a compassionate use basis, according to FDA.
